My favourite contouring products

I'm seriously obsessed with contouring! I love how it can completely transform your face, slimming areas that look big and creating bone structure that you never knew existed! And now, since Kim K posted that picture, everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon.

My face is quite round, as are my features, so I'm constantly battling to create more shape and slim those big cheeks (argh!). After years of contouring I've amassed a basic kit of products that I use on a regular basis to create a more, natural contoured look:

NARS Multiple in Rapa Nui
If I want a deeper, more  obvious contour I'll use this. It's an incredibly dark, chocolately brown which would probably be too harsh on very light skin but if you're black or Asian then it's perfect. I'll apply it straight from the tube and then spend about fifteen minutes buffing and blending it in!

Benefit Hoola
One of my all time favourite products, Hoola is perfect for contouring! It has a deep, matte finish and blends really well into my skin without leaving any harsh or obvious lines. I know a lot of people complain about the brush but it's actually a great shape for contouring and creating sharp angles.

Sleek Contouring Kit
The Sleek Contouring Kit is also incredibly pigmented and the deep mahogany brown is better suited to darker skin. It's a lot cheaper than my other contouring products and, although the powder isn't as finely milled as Benefit's Hoola, it does a good job.

Highlighting products help bring out the shapes and dimensions in your face. I use MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in XXX for evening events (it makes me look like a glitterball in daylight) or Dior's Amber Diamond, which is a lot less shimmery.

The tools
I LOVE my MAC contouring brush! I got a smaller, travel version a few year's ago as part of a Christmas collection and it's been in my makeup bag ever since. Using a slightly thinner, angled brush can really help create those angles without the product going all over your face.

I'd love to know what products you use for contouring!

  1. Nice post. I am looking for a nice bronzer for my NC30-35 skin tone. I am a pakistani asian girl. I want a bronzer without orangish tone. I have my eye on sleek contour kit in medium and benefits hoola, what would you suggest me?

  2. I personally love NARS Laguna combined with Casino to contour and the Benefit's Mega Watts or Mac's MSF in Soft&Gentle. They're perfect for my NW30 skin tone. I do want to try Benefit's Hoola, as everybody is constantly raving about it :)

  3. Definitely try Benefit Hoola - it's one of my all time favourite bronzers and it really suits Asian skin! NARS bronzer in Laguna is similar and just as good x

  4. LOVE every one of those products :-)
