Liz Earle Makeup for Dark Skin

Finally, beauty brands are cottoning on that their customer's skintones aren't exclusively: light, medium and dark - it's so much more varied and diverse than that! High end brands like YSL, Chanel and Lancome started to introduce a wider range of foundation and concealer shades at the beginning of the year and now Liz Earle has followed suit. Their foundation and powders now come in a bigger range of shades to cater to Asian, mixed-race and black skin.

The Signature Foundation gives medium to full coverage and has a slightly matte finish. I found it really creamy and easy to blend into my skin - it almost melted in and left the most gorgeous velvet finish. The Perfect Fix Concealer worked well on my under eye circles and covered blemishes up a treat but I did find it a bit heavy and thick. If you have dry skin this would probably be perfect for you because it's so creamy and  pigmented but on oily skin I can imagine it melting off after a few hours. The Natural Finish Pressed Powder really blew me away. I've never really used powders or pressed foundations. By the time I'd started using makeup powders had become dated and it had got a reputation of creating an unnatural, cakey finish, but this powder is AMAZING. It has a matte finish (duh!) making it perfect for my combination skin. I use it on my T-Zone and it soaks up all the oil and stops it from looking shiny for hours. I literally need zero touch-ups! And picking the right shade online couldn't be easier - simply hover over your chosen colour and a small description of what skintone it suits will pop up. I went for Honey, which is described as: Suits light Asian skintones with yellow undertones. It was fine, albeit a little dark, although during the summer it look fine with a tan.

To sum up, the Liz Earle foundation and powder really impressed me. I wore it to a wedding last weekend and it stayed put all day long. Although it's not a makeup brand I would immediately be drawn to (blame the dowdy packaging...) I'm glad I discovered it. The pressed powder will definitely become a staple in my makeup bag!

  1. I bought the signature foundation last year and I have to say I am impressed! I looked radiant and glowy without looking caked and I can honestly say (and I have tried many brands!) that aside from Bare Minerals, this is the best liquid foundation I have ever owned. Most foundations make you feel dirty but this one looks and feels fresh! It will definitely have a permanent place in my make up kit.
